Limited Express Super Hakuto for Tottori & Kurayoshi

The Super Hakuto Limited Express is a service that runs between Kyoto and Osaka and the Tottori Prefecture stations of Tottori and Kurayoshi. In Osaka it stops at Shin-Osaka Station and Osaka Station, and some current services start from Osaka Station.

This limited express service is jointly run over JR West and Chizu Express Company tracks, because for part of its route the Super Hakuto runs along the semi-public Chizu Express Chizu Line between Kamigori and Chizu. For this reason the Super Hakuto is not fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Pass holders must pay the Chizu Express section fare and limited express charge, which is currently 2,150 yen for an ordinary reserved seat or 2,680 yen for Green Car use on the Kamigori – Chizu section. Confirm the exact supplement when booking, as fares can change.

The Super Hakuto has all reserved seats, so passengers should buy or reserve a seat before boarding. Current data commonly shows Super Hakuto trains using platform 6 at Kyoto Station, platform 9 at Shin-Osaka Station, and platform 3 at Osaka Station, but always check station departure boards.

Exploring Tottori Prefecture

Sakaiminato is the home town of famed manga artist Shigeru Mizuki. The town has both a Shigeru Mizuki Museum and Mizuki Shigeru Road, an 800-meter street lined with about 177 bronze yokai statues of his most famous characters. Take the Sanin Line to Yonago Station and then transfer to the Sakai Line for Sakaiminato Station.

Misasa Onsen is famous for the therapeutic benefits of its mineral-rich hot spring baths. From the south exit of Kurayoshi Station take a number 3 bus to Misasa. The journey takes 25 minutes and costs 470 yen.
